- 2 pounds (900g) of potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (100g) shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer sliced potatoes in the dish, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper, and garlic.
- Pour heavy cream evenly over the layered potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese and herbs on top.
- Drizzle with melted butter and bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
Notes
- You can add cooked bacon or sautéed onions for extra flavor.
- Let the gratin rest for 10 minutes before serving to set.
