A deliciously creamy and cheesy potato gratin layered with thinly sliced potatoes, garlic, herbs, and topped with melted cheese for a perfect holiday side.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds (900g) of potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme or rosemary, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Layer sliced potatoes in the dish, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper, and garlic.
  3. Pour heavy cream evenly over the layered potatoes.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheese and herbs on top.
  5. Drizzle with melted butter and bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes, until golden and bubbly.

Notes

  • You can add cooked bacon or sautéed onions for extra flavor.
