  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Gradually mix dry ingredients into wet until combined.
  5. Mix remaining cinnamon with extra sugar for coating.
  6. Roll dough into 1 1/2-inch balls, then coat in cinnamon sugar mixture.
  7. Place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly if desired.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set and centers are soft.
  9. Cool on wire racks before serving.
