Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange saltine crackers in a single layer.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it begins to boil. Boil for 3 minutes.
  3. Pour caramel mixture evenly over crackers and bake for 10 minutes.
  4. Remove from oven, sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel, and let sit for 2 minutes. Spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  5. Sprinkle chopped nuts if desired. Chill in refrigerator until set. Break into pieces and serve.
